The winery is located in the municipality of Illmitz in the Burgenland wine-growing region of Neusiedlersee (Austria). The traditional family business has been in existence since 1870 and is now run by the fourth generation of Gerhard and Silvia Haider, with father Martin Haider in charge of the vineyards. These comprise 13 hectares of vineyards in, for example, the Kaiserwinkel, Römerstein and Sandriegel vineyards. They are 70% planted with the white wine varieties Welschriesling, Riesling, Sämling 88, Grüner Veltliner, Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Bouvier and Muskat Ottonel, and 30% with the red wine varieties Blauer Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and St. Laurent. Temperature-controlled fermentation is carried out using pure yeasts with the shortest possible fermentation time. Martin Haider is considered to be an absolute specialist in sweet wines in all Prädikat levels from Beerenauslese to Trockenbeerenauslese to Eiswein, which in good years account for up to 70% of production. Up to 85% of these are exported. Premium wines include Trockenbeerenauslese, Nektaressenz-Trockenbeerenauslese (very high-grade Trockenbeerenauslese that can only be produced in very good vintages) and the red wines aged in barriques. Also worth mentioning is the white wine cuvée "Federwolke" (Riesling, Grüner Veltliner) with only 9.5% alcohol by volume.
