Hajós-Baja

The wine region is in the south Hungary in the Hungarian Plain (Alföld). Until 1997 it was called Hajós-Vaskút. The climate is characterized by extremely dry, hot summers. The vineyards on loess soil (in contrast to other sand in Alföld) cover around 2,100 hectares of vineyards. Above all, white wines are produced. The main grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cserszegi Füszeres Chardonnay kadarka, Kékfrankos ( Blaufränkisch ), Rajnairizling (Rheinriesling) and Zweigelt.
