Hartford

The red grape variety comes from the United States, Synonyms include Fertile de Hartfort, Framingham, Hartford de Vivie, Hartford Prolific, Maguire, Seneca and Steele's Seedling. It is probably a spontaneous interspecific cross between Isabella x Labrusca wild grape. At least there are genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera contain. The hybrid was founded in 1849 by the private breeder H. Steele in the eponymous town of West Hartford in the US state Connecticut discovered and selected. Direct offspring or openly dimmed Seedlings are the varieties Fredonia. Ives. Noah (?), Plamennyi and Seneca (2). The variety yields red wines with pronounced Foxton, In 2010, however, no stocks were reported (Kym Anderson ).
