Due to national and EU wide wine legislation, the vineyards, the grape harvest and wine production have specific reporting obligations. The rules in Germany : Until December 10th of each year, the winegrower has his yield of vineyards, the harvest amount varieties and ancestry ( growing region ) and the intended differentiation of Vins. quality wines and Prädikatsweine To report to the competent authority on a form (see also under quality system ).
The rules in Austria Any producer of grapes from which wine has been produced shall, on the 30th of November, submit annually a harvest and production declaration by 15 December to the competent authority on a prescribed form. Indicate the property name and size, grape variety, Mostgewicht (KMW) and reading style. Producers of grapes, as well Winzergenossenschaften and wine trade businesses have to submit an inventory report (existing amount of wine) by the deadline of July 31, by the 15th of August to the responsible municipality. The latter has the crop and production reports as well as the stock reports immediately to the BKI (Bundeskellerei-Inspektion). This takes control of compliance with the highest yield in front.
