The winery "Ktima Hatzigeorgiou" is located in Karpassi on the Greek island Limnos in the eastern Aegean, The family has a long tradition in viticulture and wine trade. She is originally from the Turkish Smyrna (Izmir) where grandfather Petros had a winery. In 1922, the family emigrated to the island of Lesbos, then worked in Athens from 1927 and moved to Limnos in 1987. In the first years Themistoklis Hatzigeorgiou and his son Petros produced the spirits Tsipouro and ouzo, In 1998, the company was taken over by Petros, who focused on wine production and invested in new buildings. The new winery was put into operation in 2007, a restaurant and a hostel are connected. Also son Themistoklis (production and marketing), daughter Polixeni (after her study of oenology in Bordeaux and a two-year activity at Château Margaux responsible for the wine cellar) and son Leonidas (vineyard maintenance and advice to contract winemakers) are working in the company.

The product range includes the three dry OPAP white wines "Limnia Gi", "Limnios Ambelourgos" and the single-layer wine "Lagopati" (all varietal from Muscat d'Alexandrie), as well as two sweet OPE wines (Vin naturellement doux) in the manner of one Liastos from dried grapes, as well as some table wines. In the production of sweet wines, the fermentation is interrupted and a part filled as "Moschatos Limnou". The remainder ripens for 5 to 6 years in old wooden barrels with 500 liters volume and is then marketed as "Ifaistou Gnossi". Every year around 280,000 bottles of wine are produced.
