The “Ktima Hatzigeorgiou” winery is located in Karpassi on the Greek island Limnos in the eastern Aegean, The family has a long tradition in viticulture and wine trade. It originally comes from the Turkish town of Smyrna (Izmir) where Grandfather Petros had a winery. In 1922 the family emigrated to the island of Lesbos, then worked in Athens from 1927 and moved to Limnos in 1987. In the first years Themistoklis Hatzigeorgiou and his son Petros produced the spirits Tsipouro and ouzo, In 1998 Petros took over the business, focusing on wine production and investing in new buildings. The new winery was opened in 2007, a restaurant and a hostel are connected. Also son Themistoklis (production and marketing), daughter Polixeni (after studying oenology in Bordeaux and having worked for two years Chateau Margaux responsible for the wine cellar) and son Leonidas (vineyard maintenance and advice to contract winemakers) work in the company.

The product range includes the three dry OPAP white wines "Limnia Gi", "Limnios Ambelourgos" and the single-layer wine "Lagopati" (all pure from Muscat d'Alexandrie), as well as two sweet OPE wines (Vin naturellement doux) in the manner of one Liastos from dried grapes, as well as some table wines. During the production of the sweet wines, the fermentation is interrupted and part of it is bottled as "Moschatos Limnou". The rest matures in old wooden barrels with a volume of 500 liters for 5 to 6 years and is then marketed as "Ifaistou Gnossi". Around 280,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
