The winery is located in the municipality of Traismauer-Wagram ob der Traisen in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of
Traisental. The family business has existed here since 1932 and comprises a total estate of 26 hectares. After training at the
Klosterneuburger Weinbauinstitut, it has been run by Herwald Hauleitner since 2000. In addition to viticulture, fruit growing is also carried out on two hectares. The company motto is: "Drinking is a need, enjoying is an art". The vineyards cover nine hectares of vineyards in the Bergern, Gaisruck, Rosengarten, Setzen, Sonnleiten (top site with deep, chalky loess soils) and Venusberg vineyards. They are planted to 85% with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Rivaner, Welschriesling and Gelber Muskateller, and to 15% with the red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Blauer Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Zweigelt.
The vineyards are cultivated in a natural, environmentally friendly way. The wines are vinified according to their origin and
variety, with an emphasis on
minerality and
fruitiness, with particular attention paid to the dominant varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. The wide range of varieties is led by a Grüner Veltliner palette (Lössfeder, Sonnleiten, Erlesene Reben, Selektion). Premium wines are various Grüner Veltliners and Rieslings
Traisental DAC and Traisental DAC Reserve mainly from the vineyards Setzen and Sonnleiten, as well as the cuvée "Dämon C.M.S.Z" made from the four red wine varieties. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and a variety of noble brandies (fruit, berries, grapes, wine, marc) are also produced. Herwald Hauleitner acts as chairman of the
Traisentaler Weingärtner (Regio Tragisana) association.
