The white grape variety (also New York 11456) is an interspecific new breeding between Chasselas Rose (Chasselas) x Brocton. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1923 by the breeder Richard Wellington at the Vine Breeding Institute of Cornell University in Geneva, New York State. It is grown in the USA and South Africa as table grape.
