Heiligenbaum

single vineyard in the municipality of Nierstein (Nierstein area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. It is part of the so-called "Red Slope" within the Rhine front. It was first mentioned in documents in 1753 as the property of numerous families. Among others, the Count Metternich'sche Hof was named as the owner. The name is probably due to "Hell'je", a Celtic goddess of fertility. The south-facing vineyards at an altitude of 90 to 150 metres above sea level with a slope of 20 to 45% cover 12 hectares of vines. The site has no direct contact with the Rhine. The soils consist of red rock (Rotliegend), marl and clayey loam. Riesling is the main variety cultivated here. The Domhof Baumann, Domtalhof, Gehring Theo, Raddeck Stefan, Schätzel Kai and Seebrich wineries, for example, have shares in the site.
