Heirs of Beulwitz

The estate is located in the municipality Mertesdorf (Ruwer area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle, The traditional winery was awarded in 1867 at the Paris World Fair for the very high quality of its wines. In 1982 it was taken over by Herbert Weis of the Kaseler family Fumetti. The new owner has merged it with his own winery in Mertesdorf and markets since then all wines under the label of the "heirs of Beulwitz". A vinotheque with Gutsweinstube is connected. There is also a hotel with restaurant. The vineyards cover nearly seven hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Hitzlay. Kehrnagel and Nies'chen (Chasuble), as well Marie wood (Eitelsbach). Nies'chen is planted to 80% with root-free Riesling vines in single-pile education, some of them over 100 years old. Furthermore, some Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc are cultivated. The vineyards are cultivated as naturally as possible. These include fertilization with manure, greening with wild plants, cover with bark mulch and abandonment herbicides in crop protection. The selective harvest of the most healthy grapes takes place in several passes. After gentle pressing, the production of fruit-sweet wines is fermented spontaneously, while the dry Rieslings are fermented with pure-yeast for as long as possible. Depending on the weather, there are also annual awards such as Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein. The winery is in Bernkasteler Ring,
