The winery is located in the municipality Bingen-Kempten
(Bingen area) in the German region Rheinhessen
, The traditional family has been wine-growing here for over 100 years. In the 1960s, Friedel and Renate Hemmes converted the former agricultural mixed farm to viticulture. Today it is managed by Frank and Tanja Hemmes. A vinotheque and a wine school set up in two former classrooms are connected. During the year there are court festivals, literary wine tastings, wine walks, and events with wine and music. The vineyards cover 12 hectares of vineyards around the Rochusberg and in individual locations Scharlachberg
and Schlossberg-Chat (Bingen). They are planted with the white varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Grüner Silvaner, Ortega, Huxelrebe and Kerner, as well as the red varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelde, Portugieser, St. Laurent, Regent, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It is consistently close to nature, environmentally friendly viticulture. The wines are produced with the aim of regional typicity. Depending on the type of wine, they are aged in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or in barriques. A sparkling wine is also produced.
