Heritage Karl

The "Riesling Weingut Karl Erbes" is located in the municipality Ürzig (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle, The family business was founded in 1967 by the skilled cooperage master Karl Erbes, since 2002 it is led by son Stefan as a trained butler. The vineyards cover 4.5 hectares of vineyards on some extremely steep slopes in the individual layers podium (Earth) and Würzgarten (Ürzig). They are exclusively planted with rootless, sometimes 70- to 80-year-old Riesling vines. Special emphasis is placed on low yields and selective hand-picking. The wines are traditionally aged in large oak barrels. Around 70% of production is exported to Japan, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States.
