High bones

Single location in the municipality of Karsdorf (area Neuenburg Castle) in the German growing region Saale-Unstrut, One of the protective castles of the Unstruttal was on the ridge. The remains of the ramparts above the vineyard, which are still visible today, were the inspiration for the name, as they stand out like the bones of a fish against the horizon. The vineyards, which face south to southwest, at 110 to 220 meters above sea level with a slope of 20 to 45%, comprise 15 hectares of vineyards due to an extension in 1992. The floors consist of gypsum keuper and shell limestone with quartzite in places. The varieties Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Portuguese and Pinot Noir are cultivated here.
