The estate is located in the municipality of Alzenau-Michelbach (Mainviereck area) in the German wine-growing region Franconia
, It was founded in 1924 by the brothers Josef and Richard Höfler, who bought fallow vineyards and planted them with vines. Under the subsequent generation of Irmgard and Karl Höfler, the acreage increased, a new courtyard with a wine cellar and commercial buildings was built, and marketing gradually changed from barrel wine to bottling. Edeltraut and Bernd Höfler have been running the business since 1984. The vineyards cover 7.2 hectares of vineyards in individual locations Reuschenberg
(Hörstein), as well Apostelgarten
(listed since 1985) and Steinberg (Michelbach). They are planted with the white varieties Riesling (35%), Müller-Thurgau (30%), Silvaner, Rieslaner, Bacchus and Pinot Blanc (together 15%), as well as with the red varieties Pinot Noir, Black Riesling and Domina (together 20%). The white wines are reductively aged in steel tanks. The red wines mature in large wooden barrels or in barriques. In suitable years, noble sweet berries and ice wines are also pressed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, brandies (pomace, wine, berries, fruit) and liqueurs are also produced. The winery is a member of VDP
(Association of German quality wine estates).
