The estate is located in the community Alzenau-Michelbach (Mainviereck area) in the German wine-growing region Franconia
, It was founded in 1924 by the brothers Josef and Richard Höfler, who bought fallow vineyards and planted with vines. Under the subsequent generation Irmgard and Karl Höfler increases the acreage, also a new farm with wine cellar and commercial buildings was built and the marketing gradually switched from cask wine to bottling. Since 1984, the company is run by Edeltraut and Bernd Höfler. The vineyards cover 7.2 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Reuschenberg
(Hörstein), as well Apostelgarten
(listed since 1985) and Steinberg (Michelbach). They are the white varieties Riesling (35%), Müller-Thurgau (30%), Sylvaner, Rieslaner, Bacchus and Pinot Blanc (together 15%), and with the red varieties Pinot Noir, Black Riesling and Domina (together 20%) planted. The white wines are reductively expanded in steel tanks. The red wines are aged in large oak barrels or barriques. In suitable years also noble sweet Beerenauslese, as well as ice wines are pressed. Bottle-fermented sects, brandies (pomace, wine, berries, fruit) and liqueurs are also produced. The winery is a member of VDP
(Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter).
