Producer description of "Weingut Hofstätter"

The winery is located in the municipality of Spitz a. d. Donau in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wachau at the foot of the Tausendeimerberge. A wine tavern is attached. Guest rooms are also offered for rent. The farm is run by the third generation of the family, Wolfgang Hofstätter and his wife Petra. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vineyards from St. Michael via Spitz to Schwallenbach in the Burgberg, Hartberg, Harzenleiten, Singerriedel, Steinporz and Tausendeimerberg vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Frühroter Veltliner, Muskateller, Neuburger and Pinot Blanc. The management of the vineyards is guided by the motto: "Out of respect for nature, we take special care with our vineyards. They are our most precious asset - the root and future of our business at the same time." The premium wines of the house include Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Ried 1000 Eimerberg, Neuburger Smaragd and Riesling Smaragd Ried Singerriedel. A Frizzante Zweigelt Rosé is also produced. The winery is a member of the Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus winegrowers' association.
