Holanda

Spanish name for a wine distillate (wine spirit) with a low alcohol content. It is used in Spain as a starting product in the production of Brandy de Jerez, which is protected by its origin. The name derives from the fact that until the end of the 19th century, raw brandies were delivered in large quantities from Spain to Holland (Netherlands) and only finished there by appropriate distillation. See also under brandy and spirits.
