The red grape variety is a new cross between Flowers x Rotundifolia, both parents belong to the American species Vitis rotundifolia. The cross was made in the USA in 1918 by H. P. Stuckey. It must not be confused with the variety Herbemont (synonym Hunt). It is an all-female grape variety. The variety was a crossing partner in the new Regalé variety. It is suitable for winepress and table grape and is also used for the production of jelly and juice. It is cultivated in the south of the USA; however, no stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
