The winery "I Gessi - Azienda Agricola Defilippi Fabbio" is located in the municipality of Oliva Gessi (province of Pavia) in the Italian region of Lombardy. The family business was founded in 1907 and is now owned by Fabbio Defilippi. Emilio Defilippi is the oenologist and Alessandro Defilippi is the sales manager. Attached is a small guesthouse with a panoramic view over the hills of Oltrepò Pavese. The vineyards cover 40 hectares of vines at an altitude of 200 to 300 metres above sea level, planted with 4,000 vines/hectare using the Guyot system. The white wine varieties Riesling Renano (Riesling), Pinot Grigio (Pinot Gris) and Chardonnay are cultivated, as well as the red wine varieties Barbera, Croatina, Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir), Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

The vineyards are cultivated according to certified organic viticulture guidelines. This includes, among other things cover crop between the rows of vines. The soil is worked as little as possible according to non-invasive methods. Quality-enhancing measures include careful foliage management, repeated thinning out (green harvest) and withering of the grapes in the vineyard. The red wines are produced by means of classic maceration with longer maceration periods. The product range includes various DOC/DOCG wines Bonarda dell'Oltrepò Pavese, Oltrepò Pav ese and Oltrepò Pavese Metodo Classico, as well as IGT wines. Premium wines include Bonarda (95% Croatina and 5% Barbera, 6 months in large wooden barrels, 1 year in bottle) and Oltrepò Pavese Riesling Renano (maceration and 6 months in stainless steel). Annually 150.000 bottles of wine are produced, a part is exported to Germany, Lebanon and Singapore.
