Igler Hans

The winery is located in the municipality German Kreutz in the Austrian DAC area Mittelburgenland, The red wine pioneer Hans Igler (+1994) was considered Grandseigneur, Doyen and charismatic leader for many Burgenland wine growers. This experimented as the first Burgenland winegrower in the early 1980s with the then unknown in Austria Barrique, was one of the first to put out a large amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and dare to try a red wine cuvée. In collaboration with the painter Prof. Anton Lehmden he created Austria's first artistically designed label series.

Today, the operations of Waltraud Reisner-lgler and Wolfgang Reisner continue. Son Clemens is after training in the viticulture school Eisenstadt and practices in the Australian winery Veritas ( Barossa Valley ) and in the wineries of the Count Neipperg (St. Émilion, Bordeaux) since the year 2005 fully integrated in the company and jointly responsible for the cellar. After extensive renovation, the "Schaflerhof" was put into operation in June 2009. This dependance serves as a barrique warehouse, Vulcano wine shop, tasting and club space, as well as a modern event location in contemporary architecture and historic ambience.

The vineyards cover 40 hectares of vineyards in the old vineyard "Biiri" with the vineyards Fabian, Goldberg, Höblisch and Hochberg, such as Kart at the Hungarian border. They are 97% with the red wines Blaufränkisch. Zweigelt. St. Laurent. Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir ( Pinot Noir ) and Merlot, the small remainder with the white varieties Pinot Blanc ( Pinot Blanc ) and Chardonnay planted.

The premium wines of the house are the red wine cuvées "Vulcano" ( Blaufränkisch , Cabernet Sauvignon, Zweigelt, Merlot), which matures in barriques for 15 months, and "Ab Ericio", Latin "vom Igel" in homage to Hans Igler (Merlot, Blaufränkisch , Zweigelt), which matures in barriques for 21 months. Every year around 200,000 bottles of wine are produced. It is also produced a bottle fermented sparkling wine.
