Igler Hans

The winery is located in the municipality German Kreutz in the Austrian DAC area Mittelburgenland, The red wine pioneer Hans Igler (+1994) was considered a grand seigneur, doyen and charismatic leader for many Burgenland winegrowers. He was the first winemaker in Burgenland to experiment with the one that was unknown in Austria at the beginning of the 1980s Barrique, was one of the first to sell a large amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and ventured into a red wine blend. In collaboration with the painter Prof. Anton Lehmden, he created Austria's first artistically designed series of labels.

Today the company is continued by Waltraud Reisner-lgler and Wolfgang Reisner. After training in the Eisenstadt wine school and practicing in the Australian Veritas winery, his son Clemens ( Barossa Valley ) and in the wineries of the Count Neipperg (St. Émilion, Bordeaux) fully integrated in the company since the 2005 vintage and jointly responsible for the cellar. After extensive renovation, the "Schaflerhof" was put into operation in June 2009. This branch serves as a barrel warehouse, Vulcano-Vinothek, tasting and club space, as well as a modern event location in contemporary architecture and historical ambience.

It is only managed according to the guidelines of the integrated, natural viticulture, such as green manure by introducing seeds (yellow mustard, buckwheat, etc.) using mechanical tillage. The vineyards cover 40 hectares of vines in the old "Biiri" vineyards with the Fabian vineyards, Goldberg, Courtly and Hochberg, such as Kart on the Hungarian border. They are 97% with the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch. Zweigelt. St. Laurent. The premium wines of the house are the red wine cuvées "Vulcano" ( Blaufränkisch , Cabernet Sauvignon, Zweigelt, Merlot), which ages in barriques for 15 months, and "Ab Ericio", Latin "vom Igel" as a tribute to Hans Igler (Merlot, Blaufränkisch , Zweigelt), aged in barriques for 21 months. Around 200,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. A bottle-fermented sparkling wine is also produced.
