The winery is located in the municipality of Deutschkreutz in the Austrian wine-growing region of Mittelburgenland. It is run by Josef Igler (called "Joe" by his friends) and his wife Melitta. The vineyards include vineyards in the Goldberg, Hochberg, Mitterberg and Satz vineyards. They are 97% planted with the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as a small amount of the white wine variety Sauvignon Blanc. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in stainless steel tanks, in large wooden bar rels or in barriques. Great importance is attached to varietal typicity. Premium wines are the two barrique-aged red wines "Maximus" (cuvée of Blaufränkisch, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) and "Blaufränkisch Reserve". The flagship of the house is the red wine Blaufränkisch "Joe N°1" from the oldest vines or best grapes of the respective vintage. A Rosé-Secco and a fruity, elegant Sauvignon Blanc are also produced. The winery is a member of the Blaufränkischland Mittelburgenland winegrowers' association.
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
