The winery is located in the municipality of Sant'Angelo in Colle, south of Montalcino (province of Siena) in the Italian region of Tuscany. It is owned by Carlo Travagli. The vineyards cover an area of 25 hectares. They are planted with the red wine varieties Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah in the espalier system. Integrated pest management is practised with drastically reduced chemical substances. Quality criteria are thinning out in summer to reduce yields and strict selective harvesting to ensure ripe and healthy grapes. Mash fermentation takes place in open, conical vats with selected pure yeasts. This is followed by a three-month aging in stainless steel, at least 24 months in oak wood and partly in the bottle before being marketed. Premium wines include the DOCG Brunello di Montalcino (100% Sangiovese) and the DOC Rosso di Montalcino (100% Sangiovese). Grappa, brandy (matured for 20 years) and olive oil are also produced.
