In German Rheinhessen Common, vernacular term (after snack = small meal) for the rustic meal in the vineyard, which was taken by the vineyard workers around noon (previously indicated by the church tower bell). The food was brought by the winemaker in the basket and traditionally consisted of homemade sausage (liver sausage, blood sausage, rind stomach), jacket potatoes (spring men) and soft cheese that were lying on a tablecloth spread out on the ground.
