The majority of insects in viticulture are pests (photo), but there are also so-called beneficial insects that are deliberately used against other pests. The harmful insects are conventionally controlled with insecticides. In organic viticulture, however, environmentally friendly methods are favoured, such as the confusion method or protective walls as shown in the picture below.
