International Wine Review

The monthly US wine magazine or wine guide was founded in 2005 to provide the wine trade (importers, wholesalers, retailers), sommeliers and the consumer with up-to-date information on important wines and regions of the world. In addition to wines, wine-making methods, wine styles and wine-growing regions are explained, and tips on matching wine with food are given. Furthermore, the results of the quality assessments of the Beverage Testing Institute are also published here. The wine author and wine critic Mike Potashnik is the publisher, and the economist Don Winkler is the editor-in-chief. One focus is on tasting notes from an experienced core team of wine critics. They taste an average of 200 wines per month, i.e. per issue. The permanent members of the tasting team are Joel Butler and Jay Youmans, both Masters of Wine, in addition to the two mentioned above. In addition, specialists from the trade are always invited. The wine evaluation is done according to the 100-point system, whereby wines with 84 points and less are no longer recommended.
