The red grape variety comes from Italy, Synonyms are Anzonica Nera, Insolia Nera, Insolia Niura and Inzolia Nero. It comes from a presumably natural cross between Sangiovese x unknown partner. According to done in 2008 DNA analysis it is the white variety Inzolia no color mutation (or the other way around). The vine yields color-weak, spicy red wines. It is in small quantities in Sicily grown around the city of Trapani. In 2010, however, no stock was reported (Statistics Kym Anderson ).
