The white grape variety comes from Moldova. There are more than 60 synonyms which indicate the high age of the vine. Some of them are Pineapple, Courbeau Blanc, Fehér Jardovany, Giordan, Gordan, Iordana, Iordan Pineapple, Iordan Galben, Iordana, Iordovan, Iordovana, Iordovany, Jordan, Jordana, Jordan Galben, Jordovan, Klein Silberweiß, Timpurie, Pataki, Vilagos, Zemoasa and Zemoasse. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, this is one of the many direct descendants of Gouais Blanc (Heunisch), the second parent is unknown. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). It is a parent of the Plavay variety. The vine produces acid accentuated white wines. It is cultivated in Romania and used mainly for sparkling wines. In 2016, 311 hectares of vineyards were designated (Kym Anderson).
