Iowa

The federal state with the capital Des Moines is one of them Arkansas and Missouri to the middle west of the USA, From the year 1788 the land was settled by the first whites. At the beginning of the 19th century, viticulture was influenced by immigrants from Germany and Switzerland. A special feature are the Amana, a German revival movement, which found its way to Iowa around 1843. Until 1932, the community living in several villages (colonies) did not know private property. Even today, the Amana villages represent an independent culture, which is still strongly influenced by German. Not least because of this, there is the oldest brewery in Iowa here. In the Amana area are also the most wine-growing businesses. There are about a dozen of them, including Eagle City Winery, Ehrle Brothers, Summerset Winery and Tabor Home Vineyards and Winery. There are severe winters with extreme temperature fluctuations, that's why mostly hybrids and species of the species Vitis labrusca cultivated.
