Producer description of "Isimbarda"

The "Cascina Isimbarda" (Cascina = farm) is located in the municipality of Santa Giuletta in the district of Castello (province of Pavia) in the Italian region of . The name of the farm refers to the patrician family of the Marchese Isimbardi, who were feudal lords of estates in Santa Giuletta in the 18th century. The Cascina Isimbarda was founded in 1991. The owner is Luigi Meroni, the director and is Daniele Zangelmi. The property is a typical farm complex with modern infrastructure for . The vineyards cover 30 hectares of vineyards planted with the white varieties , Pinot Bianco) and Riesling Renano), and the red varieties , , and Pinot Nero). No grapes are purchased.

The range of products includes various still DOC wines and DOCG , produced through classic . Premium wines are the white wine "Vigna Martina" (100% Riesling Renano), obtained by (cold maceration) without , and the red wine "Vigna del Cardinale" (100% Pinot Nero), obtained by the grapes and selective harvesting, which is aged in barriques for 12 months after and malolactic fermentation. About 110,000 bottles are produced annually, 20% of which are exported. The winery is a member of the "Consorzio Tutela Vini Oltrepo' Pavese".
