Producer description of "Weingut Jalits"

The winery is located in the municipality of Badersdorf in the Eisenberg wine-growing region of Burgenland (Austria). An inn and a guesthouse Am Kamm des Eisenbergs are attached. The family business has been run by Mathias Jalits in the fifth generation since 2001 after graduating from the hotel management school in Oberwart and a catering practice. The vineyards cover 16 hectares of vines in the Bründlgfangen, Csaterberg, Fasching, Hummergraben, Paigl, Reihburg, Saybritz and Szápary vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc and Riesling, as well as the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Blauburger and Blauer Portugieser.

Jalits - Vinothek und Weinberg

The aim of the winery is to produce wines that are typical of the region. Depending on the type of wine, they are matured in stainless steel tanks, large wooden barrels or barriques. The premium wines are three Eisenberg DAC (Blaufränkisch) from different vineyards as well as the red wine cuvée Kontur (formerly Steinberg) from reduced yields of 40 hl/ha Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a predicted ageing potential of 25 years. An Uhudler-Frizzante is also produced.
