The white grape variety comes from Portugal, Synonyms are Boal Rosado, Cercial, Jampaulo, João Paolo and Pinheira Branca. According to 2013 DNA analysis is a presumably natural cross between Alfrocheiro x Cayetana Blanca. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see under molecular Genetics ).
