The Franja Roja estate of the Ferrer family is located in the small town of Binissalem in the center of Spain Balearic Island
Mallorca. It was founded in 1931 by José Luis Ferrer Ramonell, who is considered a pioneer in this area. Today it is run by the brothers José Luis and Sebastiàn Roses Ferrer in the third family generation. The vineyards cover 70 hectares of vineyards in the DO area Binissalem
, which are spread over the four fincas Es Cós, Ca'n Puput, Ca'n Tit and Sa Pareteta. They are planted with the native grape varieties Manto Negro (60% of the total), Callet and Moll (Prensal), as well as Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), Parellada, Macabeo, Merlot, Syrah and Ull de Llebre (Tempranillo). The company's own areas account for around a third of the production, the remaining two thirds result from grapes purchased from contract winemakers.
