The winery "Bodegas Julián Chivite" is located in the municipality of Cintruénigo in the Spanish region or DO area of Navarra. A notarial deed dated 26 August 1647 shows that the ancestor María Rubio, widow of Joseph de Chivite, was already making wine. At that time, the business was still a stagecoach station. It took on its present form in 1860. Since the death of Julián Chivite Marco (1910-1997), the estate, which is still owned by the family, has been managed by his children Julián jun., Carlos, Fernando and Mercedes Chivite. The vineyards cover a total of 550 hectares in Aberin, Marcilla and Cintruénigo. They are planted with the red wine varieties Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the white wine varieties Viura (Macabeo), Moscatel de Grano Menudo (Muscat Blanc) and Chardonnay.
There are 18,000 barrique barrels made of French and American oak available for the ageing of the wines. The "Gran Feudo" line includes red, rosé and white wines. In 1988, the estate "Señorío de Arínzano" with 125 hectares of vineyards was acquired, where the "Colección 125" line is produced. In 2007, these vineyards were classified under the name "Pago de Arínzano" with the highest Spanish wine quality level Vino de Pago. The top product of the house is the "Vendimia Tarde Moscatel". In 1999, the "Legardeta" estate with 160 hectares of vineyards, which adjoins "Señorío de Arínzano", was acquired. Finally, in 2001, 60 hectares of vineyards were purchased in La Horra in the heart of the DO area of Ribera del Duero. The Viña Salceda vineyard in Rioja is also part of the family estate.
