Kandlerhof

The winery is located in the municipality of Bolzano (Bolzano) in the Italian wine-growing area South-Tirol (Region Trentino-Alto Adige ). The traditional farm was already called in 1278 as "Dornhof" with an owner Frederici Dorn. The estate owes its present name to the owner Josef Anton Schloterpöck, who was mentioned in 1777 as "Kandler" (pewter maker). The farm was then acquired in 1793 by Johann Spornberger. The descendant Martin Gregor Spornberger began bottling at the end of the 1960s. Today the farm is run by his son Martin and Irene Spornberger, supported by son Hannes. The long family estate was finally taken into account in 1993 by the Province of South Tyrol with the title "Erbhof".

The vineyards cover seven hectares of vineyards in the form of education "Pergl" ( pergola ). They are three-quarters with the red varieties Vernatsch, Lagrein and Merlot, as well as a quarter of the white grape variety Sauvignon Blanc planted. The cultivation of the vineyards is done in a conventional way. The wines are cultivated in the old vaulted cellar typical for the variety and location, the white wines in the steel tank, the red wines in the large wooden barrel. Mainly they are quality wines DOC South Tyrol produced. The most important and typical wine of the farm is St. Magdalen Classico, Every year around 20,000 bottles of wine are produced. The winery is a member of the associations Free winegrowers South Tyrol and Red Rooster (farm holidays).
