The estate is located in the municipality Pölich (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle, The Kanzlerhof was built in 1578 as the front of Trierer Maximinerabtei. The present owner is the Schömann-Kanzler family, Alfred Schömann is responsible for the operation. A ostrich farm and a guest house are connected. The vineyards cover 4.5 hectares of vineyards in the layers hero (Pölich) and Blattenberg (Mehring). They are mainly planted with the Riesling, which is partly planted rootless, and the varieties Pinot Blanc, Muller-Thurgau and Pinot Noir. It is practiced consistently close to nature, environmentally friendly viticulture. The dry wines are usually aged in stainless steel. The spontaneously fermented noble sweet Rieslings, however, mature in traditional wooden cask. In suitable years also noble sweet Beerenauslese and ice wines are pressed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and brandies (pomace, fruit) are also produced. The winery is a member of Bernkasteler Ring,
