Karst Ernst

The estate "Ernst Karst & Sohn" is located in the municipality of Bad Dürkheim (area Mittelhaart / German Wine Route) in the German wine-growing region palatinate, The traditional business has been family-owned since 1765. A guest house is connected. It is led by Erika Karst, the winery of Manfred Karst. After basic studies in biology and professional training as a viticulture engineer, son Uli is responsible for the cellar. The vineyards cover 11.5 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Hochbenn, Nonnengarten, Rittergarten and Spielberg (Bad Dürkheim), as well Königswingert and almond garden (Wachenheim). They are planted with the white varieties Riesling (40% of the area), Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Muscat and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the red varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, St. Laurent, Lemberger, dark fields, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are vinified in the newly built Kelterhaus with gentle pressing technology and complete temperature-controlled fermentation of musts. The white wines are fermented and aged in steel tanks. The red wines ripen after fermentation in large oak barrels or barriques. In weather-appropriate years are also Eiswein vinified.
