One of the Alsace (Bas-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. It is one of the oldest vineyards in Alsace and was already used for wine growing in Roman times. A document from 1064 describes the high quality of the wines. The vineyards on the steeply sloping southern slopes cover six hectares of vines on a sloping terroir interspersed with granite in the municipality of Andlau. Here, mainly Riesling is cultivated as well as Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris. Well-known producers are André Durrmann, Domaine Klipfel, Marc Kreydenweiss, Charles Moritz and Guy Wach.
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
