The winery was founded in 1929 by Mehmet Cenap And is named after the eponymous district in Ankara (German Pappeltal). Over time, the company developed into the largest wine producer in the
Turkey, The vineyards cover 550 hectares of vineyards spread over the areas of Ankara, Denizli, Elazig, Cappadocia, Kirsehir and Pendore. Autochthonous Turkish, but also international varieties are processed. These are the white varieties Bornova Misketi, Chardonnay, Amir, Narince, Sémillon, Sultaniye and Viognier, as well as the red varieties Alicante Bouschet, Bogazkere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Calkarasi, Carignan, Gamya, Kalecik Karasi, Malbec, Merlot, Öküzgözü, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Syrah and Tempranillo. The wines are produced in the three wineries Ankara-Akyurt, Cappadocia-Gülsehir and Aegean-Kemaliye-Pendore. The large product range includes more than 40 different wines. yakut (Red wine). Other wine lines include Ancyra, Angora, Egeo, Prestige, Sade, Tigris and Vin Art. Almost 20 million liters of wine are produced every year. Around 20% of these are exported to European countries, the United States and the Far East. It also produces grape juices and sparkling wines.
