The winery was founded in 1929 by Mehmet Cenap And is named after the eponymous district in Ankara (German Pappeltal). Over time, the company developed into the largest wine producer in the Turkey
, The vineyards cover 550 hectares of vineyards spread over the areas of Ankara, Denizli, Elazig, Cappadocia, Kirsehir and Pendore. Autochthonous Turkish, but also international varieties are processed. These are the white varieties Bornova Misketi, Chardonnay, Amir, Narince, Sémillon, Sultaniye and Viognier, as well as the red varieties Alicante Bouschet, Bogazkere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Calkarasi, Carignan, Gamya, Kalecik Karasi, Malbec, Merlot, Öküzgözü, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Syrah and Tempranillo.
