Kees-Kieren

The winery is located in the community Bernkastel-Graach (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle, The Kees family is already in the twelfth generation viticulture. She was initially based in Kinheim, until the grandfather of the current owner married into the Graacher family Kieren. Since 1980 it is run by Ernst-Josef and Werner Kees. A guest house is connected. The vineyards cover nearly six hectares of vineyards in the individual layers podium (Earth), Domprobst and Heaven (Graach) Paulinshofberger (Kesten), as well as Hubertuslay and Rosenberg (Kinheim). They are planted to over 80% with the Riesling, the rest with the varieties Müller-Thurgau, Kerner and Pinot Noir. As early as 1985, the estate was awarded the Innovation Prize for Agriculture for its grape reception system. There is a late harvest until November with selective hand picking with up to four stages.

Depending on the condition of the grapes and the desired type of wine, the grapes are either subjected to whole-cluster pressing or lightly squeezed before pressing. After strong primary fermentation ferment the simpler wines in the steel tank, while the higher-quality musts are basically expanded in the wood. After the condition of the grape material is about the use of Spontaneous- or pure-bred yeasts. After a barrel aging of up to six months, the wines are finally bottled at the latest in May of the next year. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and spirits (pomace brandies, Hefebrände and liqueurs) are also produced. The winery is a member of the vintners' association Bernkasteler Ring,
