The winery is located in the municipality of Bernkastel-Graach (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region of Mosel. The Kees family is already in its 12th generation of winegrowing. It was initially located in Kinheim until the grandfather of the current owners married into the Kieren family in Graach. Since 1980, it has been run by Ernst-Josef and Werner Kees. A guesthouse is attached. The vineyards cover almost six hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Treppchen (Erden), Domprobst and Himmelreich (Graach), Paulinshofberger (Kesten), as well as Hubertuslay and Rosenberg (Kinheim). More than 80% of the vineyards are planted with Riesling, the rest with Müller-Thurgau, Kerner and Pinot Noir. As early as 1985, the estate was awarded the Innovation Prize for Agriculture for its grape reception system. The grapes are harvested late into November with selective manual harvesting in up to four stages.

Depending on the condition of the grapes and the desired wine type, the grapes are either pressed whole or slightly crushed before pressing. After strong pre-clarification, the simpler wines ferment in stainless steel tanks, while the higher-quality musts are generally aged in wood. Depending on the condition of the grape material, a decision is made on whether to use spontaneous or pure yeasts. After a barrel age ing period of up to six months, the wines are finally bottled in May of the following year at the latest. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and noble brandies (marc, yeast brandy) and liqueurs are also produced. The winery is a member of the Bernkasteler Ring.
