The red grape variety comes from the Ukraine; the name is probably derived from the city of Feodosiya (Theodosia) on the Black Sea coast. Synonyms are Cefecia, Cefesia, Doktorsky Chernyi (Black Doctor), Kefe Izyum, Kefesia, Kefesiya and Kethessia. It is sometimes with the variety Ekim Kara (also means Black Doctor) confused. It is a pure female grape, The late-ripening vine is susceptible to the real and the wrong mildew but resistant to drought, It is on the peninsula Crimea grown where they are in branded wine Tschorny doctor by Solnechnaya Dolina or in products from the famous state winery Massandra is used.
