Kertz

single vineyard in the municipality of Niederhausen in the German wine-growing region of Nahe. The steep southeast to south-facing vineyard at 135 to 175 metres above sea level with a slope of 20 to 70% covers 2.1 hectares of partly terraced vineyards. It is one of the steepest sites on the Nahe. The easily heated soil consists of volcanic weathered rock, porphyry and partly also black-grounded slate with a high proportion of stony fine earth. Riesling is cultivated here. The vineyards Gut Hermannsberg, Mathern, Racknitz and Schneider Jakob, for example, have shares.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
