Kessler

One of the Alsace (Haut-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. The Kessler wine was already mentioned in documents in 1394. It was marketed under its name since 1830. If there were a Premier Cru Classé, Kessler would have deserved it. The vineyards cover 29 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of 300 to 390 metres above sea level on gravelly sandy and clay soil in the municipality of Guebwiller. The vast majority is planted with Gewürztraminer, the rest with Pinot Gris and Riesling. Well-known producers are Dirler-Cadé and Domaines Schlumberger.
