One of the Alsace (Bas-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. The commune of Barr is therefore included in the name to distinguish it from the Kirchberg de Ribeauvillé site. The chapel of Saint Martin was built on the Kirchberg hill that gave the name to the village. The best parts are considered to be the formerly independent sites of Gaensbroennel and Zisser, which were included. The vineyards cover 41 hectares of vineyards on limestone marl soil. They are planted with the varieties Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Pinot Gris. Well-known producers are Domaine Hering; Klipfel, André Kleinknecht, Leipp-Leininger and Willm.
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
