The red grape variety originates from Uzbekistan. Synonyms are Kichmich Vatkana and Kismis Vatkana. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, it is a presumably natural cross between Vassarga Tchernaia (Vasarga Chernaya) x Sultanina (Sultana). However, this is based on only 19 DNA markers (see under molecular genetics). A genetic relationship to table grape Dzhandzhal Kara is suspected. The vine is resistant to powdery mildew. It is used as table grape and sultana grape. No stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
