Kitterlé

One of the Alsace (Haut-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. It was first documented in 1699 and in 1782 twelve "treasures" (area) of the vineyards were owned by the Jesuits of Ensisheim. The wines have been marketed under the site name since 1830. The vineyards cover 26 hectares of vineyards on volcanic sandstone soil in the municipality of Guebwiller. They are planted with the varieties Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris. Well-known producers are Dirler-Cadé, Château d'Orschwihr and Domaines Schlumberger.
