One of the classified Grand Cru positions in the Alsace (Haut-Rhin) within the appellation Alsace Grand Cru, It was first documented in 1699 documentary, in 1782 were twelve "treasure" (area measure) of the vineyards owned by the Jesuits of Ensisheim.
