The winery is located in the municipality of Bruchsal (Kraichgau area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. It was founded in 1983 by Ulrich and Marietta Klumpp with 0.5 hectares of vines. Ulrich Klumpp trained as a winemaker in evening classes. Their two sons Markus and Andreas completed their studies in viticulture and oenology in Geisenheim. This was followed by training in top German wineries and internships abroad in Austria, California, South Africa and France. Since 2004 Markus Klumpp has been responsible for the development of the wines, and from 2010 Andreas took over the management of vineyard care & office management.

The vineyards cover 28 hectares of vineyards with over 100 individual plots in the single vineyard sites Klosterberg, Rothenberg and Weiherberg in Monopol (Bruchsal), Kirchberg (Unteröwisheim), as well as Himmelreich (Zeutern), which were added to the vineyard register through an initiative of the winery. They are planted with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Lemberger (Blaufränkisch) and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Auxerrois.

After the first trials in 1985, in 1996 the farm was completely converted to organic viticulture according to the certified guidelines of ECOVIN. This includes, among other things, fertilisation on a purely organic basis with compost, straw and ground primary rock. With various quality-enhancing measures such as intensive foliage care, greatly reduced yields, gentle processing in the cellar and long ripening periods, the wines are produced in a way that is typical of their location and variety. In the "Edition" line, the white wines mature in steel tanks and the red wines in barriques for 6 to 12 months. In the "Premium" line, the white wines are matured for 6 to 12 months and the red wines for 10 to 18 months from old vines from selected sites. These include Rothenberg Pinot Gris, Kirchberg Chardonnay and Weiherberg Pinot Noir. Around 160,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
