The winery is located in the municipality of Strümpfelbach (Remstal-Stuttgart area) in the German wine-growing region of Württemberg. After many years of membership in the winegrowers' cooperative, the wines have been pressed and marketed by the estate itself since 1995. The "Sonna-Besa" wine tavern is attached. The business is run by the Knauß family, with Andreas Knauß as cellar master. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyards Altenberg and Nonnenberg (Strümpfelbach), Steinacker (Lehrensteinsfeld), as well as in the three communities of Beutelsbach, Endersbach and Schnait. Two thirds of the vineyards are planted with the red wine varieties Trollinger, Lemberger, Pinot Noir and Merlot, and one third with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are cultivated in a natural, environmentally friendly way.

Yield-reducing quality criteria are a high planting density of 6,000 vines/ha and thus forced deep root formation, short pruning, intensive foliage care and thinning. Only absolutely healthy and ripe grapes are harvested by hand several times. Depending on the vintage and variety, fermentation takes place spontaneously with the vineyard's own yeasts. The wines are marketed in the basic, estate, selection and reserve lines. The white wines are always fermented cold and under restraint and are matured reductively in stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels. The red wines are fermented on the skins without exception, always undergo biological acid reduction and, depending on the quality, mature in stainless steel tanks, wooden barrels (300 and 500 l) or in barriques. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. In years with suitable weather conditions, an ice wine is also produced.
