The estate is located in the municipality of Appenheim (area Bingen ) in the German growing area Rheinhessen, The traditional family has been involved in viticulture since the end of the 19th century. The grandparents Erwin and Magdalena Knewitz laid the foundation stone for the relocation to the current location. Wine was bottled for the first time in 1976 under the direction of Gerold Knewitz. After studying enology in Geisenheim and a few practical stays, the business has been managed by Tobias Knewitz in the third family generation since 2009 with the focus on natural viticulture. He is supported by his partner Corina Knorr and brother Björn.
