The German journalist and book author Rudolf Knoll (*1947) learned the profession of a publishing house clerk. As a journalist, he began his career as an editor of a daily newspaper and as a sports reporter. From 1980 to 1984 he was editor-in-chief of the magazine Weinfreund and then until 2009 editor of the wine magazine Vinum for Germany and Austria, of which he is now a freelancer. Rudolf Knoll has written 60 books about wine. He is an experienced wine critic and was a long-time member of the Gault Millau tasting team. He has received several awards for his achievements. These were the Steinfeder Prize for Wine Journalism donated by the Wachau Association Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus (1993), the special prize for journalism "VDP Trophy Origin Germany" from the VDP for his services to German wine (2004) and the Staufer Medal from the state of Baden-Württemberg for his services to German red wine (2007).
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
