The estate is located in the municipality Kastelbell in the lower Vinschgau in the Italian wine-growing area South-Tirol
(Region Trentino-Alto Adige
). It has been owned by the family since 1786, since 1970, viticulture has been practiced and produced wines in its own cellar. The company is managed by Martin Paul Pohl. The vineyards cover 4.3 hectares of vineyards at 600 meters above sea level on the steep slopes of the Vinschgauer Sonnenberg. They are planted with the red varieties Blauburgunder (70%) and some Cabernet Franc, and to 30% with the white varieties Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Riesling. Just as for all cultivated fruits, the cultivation of the vineyards takes place KIP rules
(controlled, integrated production).
Vinification is as natural and gentle as possible. The white wines are made in stainless steel, the red wines, especially in large oak barrels or in oak barrels. The product range includes various red and white wines DOC vinschgau
, Premium wines are Blauburgunder Fleck Riserva (24 months in barrique) and Gewürztraminer Spätlese (stainless steel).
