The red grape variety originates from Greece; the name derives from the municipality of Kollines (Arkadia region on the Peloponnese peninsula). Synonyms are Bergiotiko, Eugeniko, Evgeniko, Eygeniko, Kolliniates, Kolliniatico, Kolliniatika, Kolliniatis and Vergiotiko. The parentage is unknown. The vine yields colourful red wines. It is cultivated in Peloponnese. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
