The white grape variety originates from Greece. Synonyms are Aitonichi, Cornichon Blanc (due to the elongated, cucumber-like berry shape), Fterougato, Kokkorou Nychi, Kontegalos, Pinpinioles, Pizzutello Bianco and Superfina. It must not be confused with the Cornichon Blanc variety because of the synonym. Kontegalo is a parent of the varieties Aitonychi Mavro and Sykiotis. It is an all-female grape variety. It is used as a winepress and table grape. However, no stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
